    Question

either Pepsi Edge or Coke C2?

They are the new lower sugar varieties, although it irritates the shit out of me that they are marketing them as "lower carb" sodas...I mean please. Find me some one on a low carb diet who is getting a single carb in their day from regular soda....

anyway...they have about half the sugar of the regualrly sweetened sodas, and the rest is made up with a veritable concoction of artificial sweetners. Ace-K (aselfame Potassium), sucralose (SPlenda), and aspartame (nutrasweet.)

They taste good...it's nice not to have a full-fledged diet drink...the fact that there is SOME sugar in them makes the sweetners work better (sort of).

oh what the hell...I was just wondering if anyone else had tasted them, and if so...what's your take?

I've pretty much sworn off soda, jdf, so I doubt that I'll be trying they soon.

Since you're in the biz, what's the buzz on aspartame being a depressant? I've seen numerous, not sourced references to that fact.

Drinking a diet soda makes me hungry. Even if I'm not.

I have switched to Splenda for iced tea, though. (See paragraph 2)

And I have to admit that I pretty much skip the ginormous soda displays in the grocery, and don't watch TV, I'll ask what's the deal with these two?

    gae,

I have not read or seen much about aspartames depressent qualities, buit I have read some fairly compelling evidence that it contributes significantly to headaches. (I'll try to source that for you later.)

I, too, need to cut back on soda, diet or not, because the phosphoric acid, even in diet soda, has contributed significantly to the recent tooth decay I've suffered. Over 30 years without cavities, then i have my second child, and BAM, all hell breaks loose with my teeth. I use Splenda, also. Haven't noticed much reduction in the headaches, tho.

I found it remarkably refreshing when mixed with cat urine.

    Cool

I tried the pepsi edge, it wasnt half bad, LOL!

Actually it really was pretty good.

I drink less pop than I used to and almost always go with diet (except root beer)
